If you were not into baking it’s time to change your ways, jump in and start experimenting. It’s time to make this amazing and delightful roll. Incredibly easy to make and takes just a few simple ingredients. You can eat it as it is or with jam. Apricot is my favourite! One day my kids forced me to make 3 because it just flies off the table. This is our favourite recipe now. When I call it “breakfast roll” I don’t really mean it. Can be served with soup too. So good! Ready? Let’s start cooking! And watch out, I bet you have to double the ingredients - that’s how good is it. We will need: (1 large roll for 6-7 people) 1 cup (250 ml) of warm water 1 table spoon of dry yeast 3,5 cups of white spelt flour plus extra for rolling 3 tablespoons spoons of brown or regular sugar Pinch of salt 3 table spoons of olive or canola oil Sesame seeds for topping Egg wash or a mix of 1 tea spoon of baking powder plus 1/2 cup of water Mix yeast in warm water. Add sugar, oil, salt, mix or whisk. Add flour. The dough will be slightly sticky. That’s normal. If it’s not sticky, add 2 tablespoons of water. Cover with plastic. I use shower caps - they are the best! Leave for an hour or till the dough has doubled in size. Add some flour to the board, roll the dough, make 3 parts. Make whatever shape you want out of it. You can also make buns, they look amazing too. Place on the parchment paper. Use an egg wash or the mix of water and baking powder - this will give it a great colour. Add sesame seeds. They will elevate the smell and the taste to the next level - guaranteed. Bake at 175C or 350 F. Ready! Cool it down. Serve! |
