Even despite our endless love for everything healthy, sometimes you want to eat a cup of crispy cornflakes or ricebubbles with milk or sugar for a breakfast, right?
But, alas, often such breakfast cereals contain a lot of harmful dyes and various additives, which, of course, do not benefit us in any way!
Today, I’m going to tell you a secret. I’ll tell you about my favorite breakfast and I’ll teach you not to give up the desire to crunch something delicious in the morning!
Chickpeas. That’s right, don’t laugh!
I have never tried anything so easy and tasty. Indeed: crunchy, without excess sugar and unnecessary ingredients, and did I mention 1/2 cup of chickpeas contains 7 (!) g of protein? Add to it, my favorite smoothie and enjoy!
Chickpeas can be made sweet – for breakfast, and salty – for a spicy snack, replacing sugar with salt and red pepper. Don’t you think it is a perfect replacement for chips and cookies?
Let’s go cooking!
We will need: (2 servings for breakfast)
1 tin of (425 g.) chickpeas or cooked by you
1 tsp. of white or brown sugar + a little cinnamon (for a sweet option)
1 tsp. of salt + a little red pepper (for a salty version)
1 tsp. of vegetable oil
Preheat the oven to 165C / 325F.
If you cook peas from scratch, then cook it until it is ready and dry it.
If yours from a jar or can, then rinse them well.
Thoroughly dry the peas with paper towels. Chickpeas must absorb the maximum amount of moisture, so as not to deoxidize in the oven.
Chickpeas have a skin, it is white and transparent. It, of course, can be left on, but it is better to remove it. This peel does not spoil the taste but does not give a beautiful appearance, therefore, I advise it to be cleaned.
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, if you are making an option for a sweet breakfast, or salt and pepper if it is for a salty snack.
Add the oil and mix.
Line the baking sheet with baking paper and distribute the peas.
Put peas in the oven for 1 hour. They must be stirred all the time, so as not to burn and to ensure they dry evenly.
They are finished when the peas became dry and acquire a ruddy color.
