A healthy, low-calorie version of French toast is a rarity even in America. Everywhere it is served soaked in eggs, cream, or sugar. It is always either too sweet, or too moist, or too fat and without any flavor.
It seems that you eat one piece, but in fact you actually eat a “whole lunch”. Today I offer you a very healthy version of this beloved breakfast.
Nothing superfluous, only healthy ingredients that everyone can afford. The toast turns out very soft, very juicy and sweet enough.
Serve it best with fresh berries or jam, maple syrup, yogurt or just sprinkled with powdered sugar. Ready? Set?
Let’s go cooking.
We will need: (2-3 servings)
3 pieces of whole grain bread
1 banana
3 tbsp. of blueberries + a bit for decoration
3-4 tbsp. of almond or regular milk
1/2 tsp. of agave or honey syrup (optional)
Coconut (or any other) oil for frying
Cinnamon to taste
Pulse banana and blueberries in a blender, add agave syrup and milk.
Add cinnamon if you want.
Soak each of the bread slices in this mix. By the way, you can use absolutely any bread. Some like sweet bread, others – whole grain: the choice is yours.
Fry in oil on both sides for about 2 minutes. Do not skimp on oil, as it will allow you to make and keep a tasty crust on your toast. Done!
Serve hot! Tasty and healthy! Have a good breakfast, everybody!
