In America, there are two dishes that are loved and cooked by almost everyone: pasta with cheese and meatballs.
Today we are cooking the latter.
They are usually made, of course, from meat, covered with any tomato sauce and served with spaghetti or other pasta.
These balls always have an appetizing round shape, they are soft and juicy inside.
Today we’re cooking a version of the popular American dish, but vegan-friendly.
No meat, eggs and the like. You can use any sauce, and it is possible to serve these balls with vegetables, and with rice or beans. A great alternative to a meat dish, which will be approved even by the most inveterate meat-eaters.
Ready? Set?
Let’s go cooking.
We will need: (15 pieces)
1 stick of celery
1 carrot
1/2 onion
2 mushrooms (I use shiitake)
1 cup (250 ml.) of walnuts
1/2 cup of oats
1 tsp. of lemon juice
1 tbsp. of mustard
1/4 tsp. of cumin
1/4 tsp. of paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
Olive oil for frying
Any pasta and any tomato sauce (optional)
Cut the carrots, onions, celery. Fry the vegetables in oil for 10 minutes.
Add the mushrooms and…
…the nuts.
Fry for another 5 minutes, add the juice and spices.
Grind the oats in the blender.
Add the vegetables.
Add the mustard.
The mixture is ready!
Form the balls.
Fry them in olive oil until a ruddy crust appears.
Boil any pasta, add tomato sauce and serve.
Incredibly delicious!
Bon appetit!
Mmm!
