All children like to “crackle”, and if it is also healthy, then mothers are happy.
I have a lot of children, which means for peace of mind and the desire not to spend $100 a month on cookies, I developed this recipe.
These crackers are quite hard and moderately sweet.
They do not contain gluten or nuts, which is important for allergy sufferers. They are easily cooked and easily kept. You will like them!
Ready? Set? Let’s go cooking!
We will need: (12-16 pieces)
1 cup (250ml) buckwheat flour
2 Tbsp. vegan oil like Earth Balance (or any oil)
1/3 cup coconut or brown sugar
1/4 cup (60 ml.) water
1/4 tsp. baking powder
Preheat the oven to 95C / 200F.
Mix flour, baking soda, and oil. It is better to do this with your hands.
Add sugar and water to make the dough. It should be dry, but slightly sticky.
Roll it into a ball, and put it in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes. It’s easier to work with a cool dough.
Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Form crackers and make elegant holes in them with a fork. This is how the original crackers look. Put in the oven for 30 minutes until they dry out. Done!
Bon appétit!
