In America, the problem of intolerance to dairy products is acute, but fewer people suffer from such ailments because in almost any store you can find at least soy milk, and at most almond, hemp, coconut, rice and… oat.
Everything is expensive, so it would cost a lot to introduce an alternative milk in the daily habit, and especially for a large family.
Today I will tell you about the most affordable, very easy way to make milk, which will please almost anyone, and will be able to replace cow’s milk perfectly.
You can cook any cereal, pastries, etc. with it, or just drink it instead of water. Oat milk is stored for 4-5 days, so keep that in mind.
Ready? Set?
Let’s go cooking!
We will need:
15 tablespoons of oats + water for soaking
700 ml. water for blender
2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
A pinch of cinnamon
1/4 tsp of vanilla essence (optional)
Fill the oats with water and let it stand for 20 minutes, then drain the water.
Slightly rinse the swollen flakes and completely squeeze out the unnecessary water.
Put the oats in a blender, add 700 ml of water and blend for 15 seconds. You can vary the amount of water, making milk thicker or more liquid.
Oatmeal should be ground, but not very much.
Put a sieve over a cup and filter the resulting liquid through. Throw away the oats (or do whatever you want with it).
Rinse the blender with water, put a sieve on it and pour the liquid into it again. Close the lid and blend for another 15 seconds.
Now the oats should “disappear” completely, and the milk should be white.
Wash the cup from the milk, put a sieve on it and again filter the liquid that has just been ground in the blender. You will be surprised, but only after 3-4 times, the sludge will be filtered completely, so I advise you to repeat the blending and straining again. At the end, add the syrup or honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. You can make it chocolate just by adding a 1.5 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
Done!
Bon appetit!
