My children are very fond of oats: they eat it a lot and in different forms.
Cookies, porridge, and even pies. Of course, pies are their favorite treat!
Bananas are also very popular in our house, so when I was making a pie today, I knew for sure: they would eat it to the last crumb!
Today, we are cooking the ideal “children’s” dessert, which you can safely eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Beautiful to look at, containing no white sugar, all the ingredients are surprisingly healthy and so simple to prepare and make, that the kids will not have to wait long.
The cake turns out to be tender, even despite the presence of unground oats, sweet – thanks to the dates and juicy – due to a chocolate cream made from pecans.
We know about the healthy properties of oats, but what about those of the pecan? This nut contains magnesia, protein and is twice as rich in omega-6 than a walnut.
Pecans contain antioxidants that help in the fight against high cholesterol.
I assure you, this amazingly useful and delicious dessert, which you can eat for breakfast, will please absolutely everyone!
Ready? Set? Let’s go cooking!
We will need: (1 small pie)
For the base.
1.5 (1 cup-250 ml.) cups of chopped oats
1 cup of whole oats
7 large, soft dates
1 very ripe banana
1 tbsp. of coconut oil
1 tsp. of vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. of lemon juice
1 cup of pecans nuts
2 tbsp. of coconut oil
3/4 cup of coconut or any other milk
2 tbsp. of sugar-free cocoa powder
2 large, soft dates
2 tbsp. of honey or agave syrup
Grind 1.5 cups of oats, if necessary.
Add the dates.
Add the banana, and a little later the coconut oil.
Combine it with the remaining oats. Put the contents in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes. Allow the composition to thicken.
Mix everything for the cream in the blender. The composition should come out thick and dense.
Divide the dough into two parts.
Put one piece on a plate and spread a layer of cream on it. Close the pie with the remaining dough and spread the rest of the cream on it. Decorate with nuts and melted chocolate. Put it in the fridge to make the sure the pie and the cream is a little stiff.
